As for Vent, TTP had a Teamspeak server, but given that all our games have built in communications it was not used all that much.

And your right, it would become a jumbled mess.

That and we do not want in anyway to form a divide between fresh faces that have no idea there is a vent server and those that do. It would be pretty frustrating for new teamplayers to play around on a silent server because everyone was venting.

The in game comm is perfectly suited to the teamplay needs of our server.

not only that, but it's private due to public hack attempts and security issues.

every game TTP plays is supposed to have built in voice comms. Even ArmA (though it's crap, so we made a seperate TS server for it).

As of right now, we have a lot of teamspeak channels set up for inter-admin communication, as well as for the resident clans to use when they need.

I have used Teamspeak in the past with guilds and clans and found that It worked great for BF2. Not a big fan of Vent, I guess I have not really used it that much though. As far as TS goes.. I only would consider using it with a clan. I can see the chaos that would come to a public BF2 VOIP

for me, it's not the chaos....it's the inability to communicate with the one person you really need to, simply because they aren't in the teamspeak or vent channel.

that's why TTP doesn't endorse it. Our admins ahve TS channels for communication in all our games. We also support channels for resident clans, if they ask for them.

but public channels.....other than arma .....we don't do it.

would a lobby make more sense? Say you do not want/can not hop into a game yet you want to hang out with a few buddies. But I also see how this opens the door to people joining the vent/TS server and then joining a server...I unno. It was sort of a half baked idea
