TTPL
Texas Team Player League.
I know I am new but i have a suggestion for the whole TTP community. You guys should start your own little private league like CAL or OGL but just for the fun of it. I am thinking of getting a clan started when i start playing dod again and work my way up to CAL. (When i quit dod, I was on a CAL team but found out you need DX9 and I had DX 7.1 so i was pretty pissed.)

We kind of sort of already have that. It's nothing official, but each game has their own thing.
Every once in a while the CS people have a little tournatment like the one going on now, BF2 and BF2142 have their monthly mathces, TF2, CS, and I believe DoD have their XXXDay Fight Nights where people join the match server to play together with regs only.
I'm not sure though if a majority of the people would be willing to do a "full blown league" though such as CAL and what not.

Re: TTPL
if I was to support a league, it would have to be no restrictions, 10x10 CSS and DoD, and at least 20x20 BF2/2142.
Not little games of 3v3 and 5v5 tag that were invented in the days of dialup connections and 9600 baud modems.

4 Infected Tactics
Every time I play through a map in L4D, I keep thinking to myself "this would be a good point for a co-ordinated attack for the infected. If I were in control of everything, I could have the boomer here, the smoker here, one hunter there, the other hunter there..."
I thought it might be nice to post a thread where people suggest some teamwork tactics for playing as infected at particular instances in the game (start points, crescendos, typical witch/tank spawns, choke points, ladders etc.). It'd give people on the forums something new/effective to try when playing as infected and it'd be good to get some people together to give them a try in a proper game.
Just as an example (not necessarily a good one):
NM1 start:
Most people I know instinctively go for the rooftop to see if they can catch a straggler. I've only ever seen this work effectively against people that are new to the game/have someone joining late.
Here's how I'd set up:
Boomer: Run downstairs to the room with the breakable wall. Hold off spawning until the first 2-3 survivors have run past (I've seen a lot of people shoot the wall instinctively). Once they've gone past, spawn and aim for as many people as possible.
Hunters 1 and 2: Wait around the corner from the stairs next to the bathroom (just off the room with the pipebomb and the breakable glass). Spawn in as the first two survivors are coming round the corner and aim for two secures. Hopefully the boomer bile will have hit the third or fourth person and give a little margin for error.
Smoker: Spawn in at the bottom of the initial set of stairs. Aim for the last survivor.
Okay, so obviously there's a lot that could potentially go wrong and it's completely dependent on all of the survivors going down the stairs and, of course, the each of the infected knowing the plan. But I thought it might make a change from the usual "spawn on the rooftop" stuff you see.
I know a lot of people would advocate being spontaneous with the SI (I'm not sure if you're ever guaranteed to get a particular combination at particular points in the game, except at the start of maps), but I've found that having a plan for particular points can work really well.RIP Mike Starr

I think that planned ambushes are fun.. Problem is planned ambush are hard to plan with random players unless you can plan it fast enough.
My problem with planned ambushes is you can't plan what or how the survivors move or storm through an area.
For me any ambush to work against a better team you need a few things, a great distraction in wide a open area or a good stumble in a tight area.... And everyone needs to be in a spot where they can re-act fast enough and use the map to block bullets and getting stuck in commons.
Teams that play together alot have the advantage of being able to set up fast, so i figure its usually better to stay loose, stay un-predictable and always be in a position to re-act when playing against them.

For 3 hunters + 1 boomer combos.
In any area (wide open ones are best) drop the boomer in on them and try to get one or two. Hunters should come in together and pin everyone but one of the guys that got turned purple.
If done correctly you might get lucky and end up creating a hitman situation where the one guy that isn't secured can't clear any of his teammates in time.
Example:
YouTube - Tys-Ondeck hitman
If your up for trying instant kills in the first game, give "sliding" instant kills a try sometime. First one in this video is a good example, the rest can be done without sliding them over a hunters back first.
There are plenty of places where you can set them up, be creative. I don't think some of them work anymore though. You can also use in-game objects to produce the same effect. For example, there are a million places where you can do this on DA3 with in-game objects. Most of them are located near the ladder by the crescendo event.
Keep in mind that any good team will blast a smoker in seconds near these areas of the map. So you need to distract them with a boomer/hunter when attempting to use those spots.

A dirty trio (boomer 3 hunters) is my favourite. It can go one of two ways - if the team is tight together, you boom and then prioritise the clean ones with the hunters, leaving, as hillbilly says, the dirty ones to fend off the common. If the team are split up a little and you manage to boom even just one, then I quite often prioritise the dirty player. A combination of a hunter slashing them and a stack of common hitting them deals damage very, very quickly, and I've killed countless players this way before. It doesn't really work against people who are proper champ at the game, unless you can get them all distracted. If there's a tank around, it can work, as the common also act as a shield for the hunter, allowing the tank to distract.

AM i the only one that hates the term hitman. I think thats a word used by geebs to mock players. But thats just me, i also will never EVER use the word secure. . Secure my ass....
For me, in wide open areas after a boom on my team i will go stealth and wait till the hunters came out and the other guy was surrounded for like a good 5 seconds before helping.
Yet everyone else did the wrong thing in that vid.
The boomer victim ran around all crazy setting himself up to get surrounded and stuck. And the other players ran around all stupid making themselves easy to spot, and did nothing to evade the hunters.. Yet they all point the finger at the boomer victim...Dumbass's.
Personally i would have stealthed it till the 1st ambush right after the door opened. Hell if it was up to me everyone stealth it and spread out., stop the ambush and then rush. Not rush out the door with 4 uzi's and deal with it...lol
WHen it comes to ambushes i think its mostly about survivor movements and reactions then any actual planned attacks. You can plan anything but you cant plan what the survivors will do.
