Different admin mod on TF2?
I was wondering if anyone had thought about using a different admin mod on the TF2 server. I know the Lonestar mod is the current mod being used, but it hasn't fully worked in several months. I am not disparaging Ewok's efforts in updating it, I am just saying maybe we can implement a different mod until he (or whomever else is working on it) completes Lonestar.
All of this is coming from complete ignorance of how much effort it takes to implement a different mod. If it's very difficult I totally understand why it hasn't been changed. I just miss being able to call map votes, check my rank, etc...

Re: Different admin mod on TF2?
this is our mod, we got a group of people putting in countless hours to get it exactly where we want to be. right now they're tackling the big things those little bits wont come in until the end. To make sure its always fully functioning it's important to keep it in constant use.

Re: Different admin mod on TF2?
I did find plenty of usable mods, my ignorance is in implementation. I have never ran a server, so I have no idea what it takes to install a mod. As I said, I wasn't talking bad about Ewok's, or anyone else's efforts. I was simply wondering if there was a possibility of using an interim mod until lonestar is completed. I know how long software can take to be released if it's someone's full time job, let alone a part time volunteer.

Re: Different admin mod on TF2?
The issue is that many of the other admin mods are abandonware. They are never updated. Thus every time Valve releases a TF2 update the admin mod breaks and you have to find third-party hacks that try to patch it.
So, there are a bunch of other admin mods out there. But very few are designed for TF2. Most are programed for CSS and just happen to run in TF2 (mostly because they are hacked by third party people to do so).
By using LoneStar we are building an admin mod that is not spesific to TF2, nor CSS, nor DoD but will work for all three. This is vital.
Yes, LoneStar is progressing slowly. We only have one person doing the bulk of the programming. If you feel qualified then step up to the plate and pitch in.
Bottom line, LoneStar has the bare bones functionality that we as ADMINS need to do our jobs. It is not all pretty for PLAYERS yet but it will be eventually.
Additionally, who gives a damn about rank and the ability to check it in game? This isn't CSS where it is clear cut KDR/Plants/Defuses. TF2 is much more complicated and no ingame RANK is going to tell you that. In my opinion having a rank command in TF2 just promotes individuality instead of teamplay. We used to be using Mani Admin mod and the ranking system in it was never meant for TF2, it was calculating rank based on the assumption that you were playing CSS.... Not very useful.
