Thread: NEW FEATURE: TTP Search page

another thing I just discovered (though I knew it...just never thought about it). The google search page only has access to search/index things that google has access too. That means any forum requiring permission...reservists....admins....moderators... .clan forums....anything that is off limits to guests is not "seen" by google.

The forum's search system (up at the top), recognizes your specific permissions, and searches all forums that you have the ability to see.

Could we use that to our advantage? For example,make a forum for more of our "questionable" material,such as conversations that we wouldn't want showing up in the search engines? Make it for registered teamplayers only,and off limits to guests? That way,topics that would normally get locked because of content,could be started or moved there,and discussion could continue without fear of affecting the search engines....just a thought,but I could also see where that might get out of hand too...

Brought up by the site mods and shot down for lack of possible threads.

some forums used to be off limits to guests, like admin abuse and banned topics.....but, then it became clear that forums like that are sometimes "good advertising". Places where we get to show what we're made of, who we ban, and when we're able to admit we were wrong and/or remove people's bans.

But given the clan forums, all the admin forums, etc...more than 50% of all the forum activity at TTP is not seen by guests aka google.

Bigdog, when you get a chance (I know you're busy) would you mind writing an article about "beating your wife"

I hear some states have laws where you can do this once a week as long as you use a stick no thicker than your thumb. I believe this is where the term "rule of thumb" came from.
