    Server music

I've had this thought in my mind for a while now, so I figure I'll get it out there.

As we all know, mic spamming is forbidden on all TTP servers, since it disrupts in game sounds, and is irritating to many. I fully support this, but on the other side of things, source admins are given the tools to do what is essentially the exact same thing in their song list. In fact, it can be far worse, as the server music can be a drastically different volume from the adjustable in game volumes.

Whereas you have one group warned, kicked, or banned for playing music of their choice at ANY time, however brief it may be, admins have the privilege to play music at the time of their choice (generally not THAT disruptive timing-wise, thankfully) at a volume not adjustable by a given player (as far as I know, anyhow).

The server music honestly bothers me due to the windows volume I'm required to use for my headphones outside of the game.

Just wondering what others think of this, and why the double standard exists. Admins are supposed to lead the way in team play, and communication, and I don't see a jukebox doing that at all.

#1. They are for the purpose of nothing but griefing and annoying the other players most of the time
#2. The definition of spamming is 'using excessiviely' server music doesn't last long
#3. Find out how to use your volume button/wheel/slider/bar

#1. I see any player broadcasting music for any length of time immediately warned or punished.

#2. Server music often lasts longer than warned/punished 'mic spam'

In game volume settings have no bearing on server music volume.... That's why so many people connecting to TTP get flustered by the map intro music, and first time connections with high windows volume panic when their ears bleed, not knowing how to turn it off. I've seen more than a few disconnects due to this, and precious few people aware enough of others to immediately tell them the appropriate command.

I don't want to disable server downloads, as I play on servers with other mods sometimes. I should alter my windows volume, and therefore my TF2 volume every time I play at TTP is what you're saying?

    Re: Server music

I'm actually with Jabber on this.

I loved having the music in gungame. It was much more relaxed and the music/sound bites added a nice little touch to the game.

In regular CSS though, I find myself frustrated more when music (especially the long songs) get played. I have to yell over it to make calls and so on. It's just an annoyance more often than not.

Music is really annoying and distracting, especially while a clutch is commencing.

Normally admins don't really use it, but I would say it got a bit out of hand early today though.

    Re: Server music

Overall most of the music is okay. There are a few I think are overly long, but that might be a personal preference. But my main issue is that one sing that talks about "slapping bitches and hos" or something to that effect. I don't know about anyone else but I find it in very bad taste.
