Thread: "Recent Topics"

Ever think about putting a horizontal bar on the top of the page (right below or above the ad @ the top) that monitors the last three or four media topics? (the stuff on the home page noone sees because it's below all that spam)

I meant like the media topics.

Like a scrolling bar that lists new articles?

the block on the homepage is the last 7 articles posted, in order.

we have to make some editorial choices as to what's going to be the top block. The contests boost traffic, for the most part, more so than the articles do, so we shuffle things around. Just like around QuakeCon time, we have the QC block at the top.

Now....contest is over....new one is brewing....so we move the articles back to the top.

Sorry for not getting back in a bit, I meant like Recent posts, how it is ALWAYS on the left, add a horizontal bar (with most recent on the left, up to 5-7 articles in the bar) maybe as big as your Ad Bar on the top of the page (if you have adds :P)

That way, no matter what page you are on, you can see the articles.

Reasoning: More traffic to articles, Easy to see when a "new" article is posted.

Add a third +- button up top to either hide/allow the media bar to load? (or give it a +- button like the individual windows on the left/right)
