According to my spyware doctor + antivirus scan, I didn't have any viruses but I did have some cookies that, if I returned to that site (they were all random ad serving sites), could potentially cause a pop-up to be generated. I'm thinking that one of the ad serving sites might have corresponded to one of these cookies and thus served the pop-up when it was loaded as an ad. I use firefox with no extra browsing-related scripts although I had greasemonkey installed.
