SOLVED!
I have two spare machines running XP with 8800's... One gets a "Frequency Out of Range" or a "Monitor does not support this imput"... bla bla bla....
Changing settings in Windows does not effect this what so ever...
Here is the fix: In steam, right click L4D > properties> General Tab>Launch Options... Inside launch options, type the following: -startwindowed
This will allow the game to launch Windowed and FORCES L4D to use the refresh rate specified by Windows.
Once there I was able to change to Windowed-No Border. You can change any setting you want; but I was unable to get it to work in anything other than Windowed or Windowed-No Bordered. L4D does not have refresh rate settings. Hope this helps and enjoy killing the Infected.

out of frequency
i have l4d2 non steam
i have 2.4 dual core procesor
512 ati radeon video card(hd 4350)
3 gb ddr2
and it says :Out of frequency
what should i do?
i tried to set the refresh rate to 60 but still dosnt work:|
i have the same problem with the suffering 1
pls help

got it to work
ok i have the same problem as every one else but i got it to work opn my computer dont know why it works but it does.... my video card has a svideo out put and when i plug my computer in to the tv and start my l4d2 it works every time on my tv and computer monitor but if i unplug the tv from the computer the games does not work and i get the Frequency out of range error on my screen well i hope this helps and if it doesnt then im sorry but it works for me now

how to fix 'out of range problem' in left 4 dead 2 ... plz specify it in detail
