Thread: TPG Winter meetup?

So this has been touched on in a couple of the QC topics, but I figured it deserved its own discussion. My personal opinion is that we should do a large meetup more than once a year. It doesn't necessarily have to be an even organized by another group, like QC, I would be happy with a DnB type get together or some such. Thoughts, ideas, suggestions?

Regional meetings? Colorado is Planning one now.

Come to the East coast, I got Sandy beaches and plenty of hoes to go around! Plus all the clubs and fist pumping you could ever imagine...

Regionals are cool, and we will likely have something in DFW later this year, but I enjoy seeing all of the out of towners as well.

Jersey in February? Not just no, but hell to tha no.

I was thinking maybe Houston. DFW and Houston are probably the two cities/areas with the most members, and since we do Dallas for QC maybe Houston for the winter? Plus Texas is centrally located for those that drive, and flights to Houston should be easy as well.

I am down for whatever though.

I would be down for Austin as well. Maybe we find a LAN center to invade, so nobody has to bring rigs?

My concern would be that you can only get people to go to one of two events a year if they are coming from far away and then you start dividing the group of people that could go to one big event a year. Regional events could be better.

As a side note, looks like theres a LAN Fest in Colorado next month. I'm thinking of going. Anyone else in?

Possibly, but the only people I see that applying to are people who live wherever that "winter meetup" is, but won't travel to QC. I still see QC as THE event of the year for TPG, but I know there are many of us that would like to do a second. I would tell everyone if you can only do one a year then make it QC. From what I hear there are plans to do it even bigger and better next year.

Maybe with some regional events it would bring some cohesiveness to the community in RL, bringing more to QC when the time comes.
