Watched the video... it doesn't appear that there's a whole lot in the way of strategy to an eve battle... Park your ship and fire at anything that gets in your way.

Capital ships, like the ones in the video, yes. They are so enormous, they barely move. They are "cyno'd" in, and pretty much just shoot in place.

The subcapital ships require a tremendous level of tactical and strategic positioning. You have to be away of engagement zones, weapon ranges and their fall offs, jamming ships, interdiction bubbles and jump gates just to name a few things.

For this reason, I find the subcapital fights to be far more entertaining. This one is a little closer...

Ignore the last few minutes of that vid where the guy is trying to bump another ship out. The other half of EVE combat is fighting sheer boredom.

the smaller the fleets the more tactical they are and the more aware of goings on you must be.

the big ones are slag fests and are cool due to the size and possible "meta" impact but less so for the actual combat mechanics
