They mentioned this briefly during E3 this year, and it looks interesting. It might just be another City of Heroes/Villians with DC characters. I wonder how they'd do the classes/characters though. Like is Superman a "class" where he can be a tank/dps type of guy and Batman be something a dps/cc person and there will be many people being Superman, Batman, etc.?
I haven't heard much, but still...interesting idea.

Re: DCUO
from what i read in the magazine is that you dont play actual heroes in the game but some no name hero. kinda like how LOTRO fits into the LOTR lore.
i guess the story at this point in production is something about there being some kind of surge of super powered people sprouting all over the place and these people (players) coping with their powers, becoming either evil or good.
heroes work for Justice League and villains work for Legion of Doom

Ah, the demo I saw just showing off some of the Justice League people like they were players fighting some of the Legion of Doom people. Let's juts hope they make it better than CoX, I wasn't that big of a fan of that game the little I played it from the trial I got.

I'm guessing although it is called DC Universe, it'll be a good deal of both if they want it to be the Justice League vs The Legion of Doom. That way you get more super heroes and villians to play with/against. They probably had to get some sort of agreement though if they wanted to just call it DC Universe Online.

Sounds kind of interesting. Kind of real interesting. Something to look forward to.
"The DCUO team does not want anyone to miss out on a second of action in the game, or to regret pigeonholing themselves into a specific class immediately after creating a character. For that reason, the team has decided to throw out the traditional online RPG system, which calculates damage based on character statistics. Instead, DCUO relies on the skill and performance of that particular player. The action-oriented gameplay will allow players to have active and passive powers that can be substituted out to meet specific situations. You can focus on healing, melee fighting, tanking and other skills by switching out your powers in-between battle. Your character will grow as you progress through the game, allowing you more powers and skills to choose from. This way the team hopes to combine the minute-to-minute play of an action game with the longevity of an MMO."
An interesting concept...I'd like to see how it is implemented.
"DCUO is a physics based game, allowing players to use whatever they can get their hands on – including vehicles – as weapons or tool of destruction. For this reason combat will be as diverse as the surrounding environment. The DCUO team also wants the game to feel like a living and breathing environment. Cities will be populated with pedestrians and other citizens, although it is unclear how they will react to the madness around them. We wonder if it is possible for them to become casualties of war, or if that perhaps goes against the DC code. Considering the nature of Batman’s most recent blockbuster movie, we don’t think anyone is safe anymore."
Awesome...if it turns out like it sounds...
