    Re: Jumpgate: Evolution

Seemed interesting until I saw that it was a Codemasters game. :3

I have been rather disappointed in the long run with their games.

RFOnline had a great idea and all, but failed to deliver on the massive PvP since it was 3 factions fighting for one chip and those battles would be huge and most people couldn't handle it all at the time even on low settings. Hell I don't think their servers could handle that scale of PvP, but it was great when you could play it. Plus the balance of the game was off and it took forever to lvl it seemed and didn't have much in the terms of actual dungeons to do to help you lvl since the game was clearly suppose to be heavy in the PvP department.

LotRO was a decent game but I think it is still around because of the die hard LotR fans out that which honestly is what drove me to the game to begin with. However, PvP wasn't that great. The idea of playing as monsters was cool, but they started at lvl 50 and still had to acquire all their skills, health bonuses, etc. and could only play in the one small zone so it sucked.

I know they all have different developers, but it just seems that Codemasters seems to pick games that don't tend to do well in the long run in terms of support or actual gameplay so I think I'll pass.

And the levelling system is like eve in the respect of specialization(specific skills are trained individually) but the training for those skills is based on player action(experience)

LOTRO still has a fairly decent subscription base. They put pvp in to appease the masses, so it will always feel tacked on, because it was. The pve side had one of the best crafting systems in current MMOs, as well as some fairly above average writing.

But, if I want a PVE game, I'll play CoX

It had the help of Tolkien to get the story started, but still well written for sure. And the PvE side was great, I loved it. However I'm one of those people that enjoy doing both equally and the PvP just failed to deliver because as you said it was tacked on.

Plus everyone that I knew that played the game quit so playing it alone sucks.

I still think it is the best fantasy MMO from a role playing perspective. The atmosphere really makes the game and they portrayed tolkien's world remarkably. I would be playing it but I have too many hobbies to pay for and an MMO just isn't in the books for me.

The space mmorpg that I'm actually interested in is that "Infinity: The Quest For Earth" one.

    http://www.infinity-universe.com/Infinity/

But, it is mostly being developed by one person... so it's release is still well over a year away.

It was "well over a year away" three years ago, Blah.

It's vaporware. Fun vaporware (there was a combat alpha build floating around for a while), but vaporware. Especially when the developer won't put a feature freeze in place.
