Re: What failed about AoC?
While the game itself wasn't terribly exciting for me, I feel that for many TTPers the failed attempt of getting together and forming a TTP guild (and by TTP guild I mean a guild full of TTP players, not a guild named TTP or trying to represent TTP) caused the game to be much less enjoyable.
I remember that we had started a TTP "guild" and then we lost some players and eventually wound up merging into another guild on the server. This also happened after many of our TTP friends were in turmoil and confusion as to which server to play on. We swapped servers 3 times in the beginning i think.
This definately left a sour taste in many of our mouths, and was also a major concern when WAR came out. While there has been speculation that the same could happen to our TTP hosted guild Disorder, and we have faced a few of those problems as well, namely server coherency and members losing interest, Disorder is still going strong in WAR.
In summation, it wasn't just the game mechanics that have been posted numerous times, but I think as a game here at TTP, the guild/server failures were the true nail in the coffin.

pfft AO is still alive baby, 7 years running and they ain't stopping. Already working on patch 18.0, which IIRC is going to bring the new graphics, woot!
Still only idiot AO players would like WoW, its wayyy too simple compared to AO, at least they could go to like Eve or the new game (i forget the name cuz i don't care, DAW?)
