    World of Tanks

Latest video of World of Tanks introduces their heavy tank class.

    http://www.worldoftanks.com/

World of Tanks is a team-based massively multiplayer online action game dedicated to armored warfare. Throw yourself into the epic tank battles of World War II with other steel cowboys all over the world. Your arsenal includes more than 150 armored vehicles from America, Germany, and the Soviet Union, carefully detailed with historical accuracy. A flexible system of authentic vehicle upgrade and development allows you to try any of the vehicles and weapons in the game. Whether you prefer to exhaust your foes with fast and maneuverable light tanks, make deep breaches in enemy lines with all-purpose medium tanks, use the force of giant tanks to eliminate opposing armored forces, or become a heavy sniper with long-range howitzers, each unit type has its own advantages and can be extremely effective when operated by a true tank ace.
But being a great tank commander alone isn't enough to win! In the World of Tanks, it’s all about teamwork. Victory is achieved by combining your combat skills with those of the other members of your team, each playing their own role on the battlefield. Just add your favorite strategy to build your own iron empire and manifest the indisputable authority of the tank power!

Also here are the video trailers of the medium and light tanks.

I don't think they have released the official trailer for Artillery yet.

With it being free to play I am definitely going to check it out. I would think all the WW2/DoD guys would want to try it as well?

Hey Blakeman. I signed up and DL'd the CBT last night. Got a couple hours into it and I think it's got some real potential. I like that it will be a subscription free game, and it is most definetly a teamplay oriented game.

So far the CBT seems to be a basic skirmish battle format, but from what I can tell the full version will allow invite only games. This should make for some very interesting strategy oriented battles, instead of the open melee's that the CBT is permitting at this time.

Anyway, if you're playing, keep an eye out for me, my little MS-1 packs a wollop, and I'm averaging 2-3 kills a drop already.

I signed up too. It's pretty fun once you get used to it and get a good tank. There seem to be balance issues with heavy tanks being too powerful... but that isn't really true. Everything has a counter (as far as I can tell). Good team play (with people protecting the arty's, scouting out enemy positions, and either staying out of range of enemy arty's or sending in light and medium tanks to take out enemy arty's) keeps the game balanced and fun.

Obviously, I think this game would be amazing with a good team of team players (hint hint). You might catch me on sometimes. I'm using the same name as here... and I usually play an artillery or light tank (working toward a heavy tank).

I signed up. This game looks pretty neat from the videos. Didn't we have another thread with a bunch of WoT videos in it?

    Re: World of Tanks

I've been steady playing lately, and I'm up to a t-46 and about to move into mediums. The CBT isn't allowing much in the way of actual teamplay atm, just a bunch of melee free for alls, with some disorganized chaos thrown in for good measure. But overall the game is fun to play, and I'm sure that when it goes live it will be very popular. I'm looking forward to that because it will be easier to arrange teams with the invitation system.

I haven't figured out the Commander functions as yet, but they are there, and the VOIP apparently won't be available until the game goes live as well. Which is just as well because, this game seems to be hugely popular in Europe, and I find myself playing with and against Russians and Germans quite a bit.

The 66% rule seems to help maintain some balance in the Standard Battle mode, which is good for the new players and their MS-1's; which has been my best tank so far; keeping newbs from dropping into games with some serious Heavy Tanks and getting blown to hell in one shot.

I can see this becoming a great strategy games for team oriented gamers. The ability to go from 3rd person to FPS with the mouse wheel is a very nice touch. BTW auto-aim works better when you train up your gunners skills.

My best tip: Go thru your Depot and sell off all the tank parts you are not using anymore. It replenishes your XP pool for research and new purchases.

Look for me as RagunCajun and shout out so I'll know your in game, maybe we can team or duel.

I recommend playing some bluegrass in the background. It makes the whole experience much more funny.

    Re: World of Tanks

I have moved solidly into my T-46 with a 100% trained crew. It's a whole new level of play, the tank is more agile, spotting is easier, you hit more often and accurately.

You still have to use your head, and not rush into 1 v 100's, but a T-46 can hold up against most anything long enough for a kill or two, if you play smart.

Points are given for spotting, damage dealt, as well as destroyed vehicles. So spotting for artillery can earn you as much as a kill, because you get a percentage of the damage dealt by the arty. It's how the scout is rewarded for doing his part.

The tank models are wonderfully drawn and detailed, and things like tracks and wheel sprockets move and turn as in real life. They belch out exhaust smoke, and grind and clank just as you'd expect a real tank to do.

Huge open maps, lots of terrain variety provide many hiding places for the tanks that want to play ambush. Plus the few urban/city maps make for serious close quarters battles.

As long as the game is still in CBT, I'd recommend not bothering to get a premium tank, as you will only lose it when the final version goes live, and the slate is wiped for the launch.

I've more, but this will do for now.
