For those that dont know MOAB stands for Mother Of All Bombs. She's an air blast weapon system with 18,5 thousand lbs of high explosives. From a military stand point this simply will not do. Sure we can get them on the surface with MOAB but what if their under ground?

Welcome the GBU-57AB. He's a an MOP which stand for Massive Ordnance Penetrator. Thought you were safe in your bunker under ground just because a normal bunker buster couldn't get you? Well dig deeper. MOP can reach thru 200 ft of reinforced hardened concrete before detonating its 5300 lbs explosive payload.

LOL if you build it, we can blow it up. Fucking outstanding.

That was the project start date. The air force took its first delivery this year.

$340,000,000 dollars wasted if you ask me. I mean, it's kinda cool what it can do but, WHY? It's shit like this that helps to keep us from I don't know.............................................. ........................solvency!

The technology is cool. But I tend to agree that this is very much an expensive solution to a cheap (and exceedingly rare) problem, that of having to kill a hardened bunker below ground. It that to say that such a scenario might never arise? No, I am sure that, given our world and probabilities, something somewhere sometime might have called for this type of ordinance. But I am pretty certain that it is an unnecessary expense at this stage.

But, I'll try not to rain on your parade as I know that this is your cup o tea

I agree its price is to high without a doubt. The why is easy. Iran and NK tend to build under ground or in mountains. Until now we could not reach them at those locations.
