No, what I'm getting at, is that if you feel that you could be site banned for telling it...that should tell you that there's most likely a much larger population outside of this forum that also thinks the use of the word is still unacceptable and would not be "happy" if the word were to ever become accepted as not an insult. This should also tell you that some of your conclusions, concerning the use of this word are misguided and therefore... incorrect.

I understand what your getting at. I have never implied that the majority of people enjoy or use the word on a daily bases. I still stand behind what i said. The fact the word has gone from being strictly used to show sheer hatred to a word of comradery is an astounding in itself. That evolution is something we should be happy about. It shows the ability to progress through anything. So no im not incorrect and even those on your side have already conceded that the word does get used in that manner.

And no im trying to imply the word will ever have a sole meaning that isnt hurtfull.

I can agree with the ignorant part. I don't know that I agree with the hateful and racist part. I have known white people that have used the word in the exact same fashion as the majority of black people use it. Do I think that qualifies them as ignorant? Yes. If they understood what the word truly stands for then they wouldn't use it. Do I think it makes them racist or hateful? No.

I think that people who don't understand what this word means are extremely rare. Therefore, most people using it know full well what they're doing, and how their use of the word will be read, and so the only reason that they'd use it are for exactly that reason.

While I don't totally agree with some of the crazy stuff DG is spewing I agree that social upbringing does play a part. Hell, just look at the topic we have about some school not being able to use a cougar as their mascot as it might offend middle-aged women. Do I think that is on the same level as the N word? No, but it is analogy of how different words can have different meanings to different people. Just like I can agree with you that your wife's best friend calling her a slut is totally different than me calling her a slut when I don't know her (I am not calling your wife a slut by the way). By the same token I think a white guy can say to his friend, "What up my N?" and not mean it in a hurtful or racist way, OR he can say, "I hate Ns." and it is 100% hurtful and racist.

Do you think that white people saying "what up my N" to their black friends a statistically significant percentage of the people using the word about black people? I don't. Every single time I've heard this word used by a white person to describe a black person, it's been like the people in the original post - intentionally hateful.

Sure, a black man can say to another black man: "There's my nigger...what's up?" A white person cannot say that to a black man.

Is it a double-standard? Probably. I also think it just pisses some white people off, because they can't say it. Well, tough... you're not black. Deal with it.

There are even many blacks who despise the use of the word in any circles....black, white...whatever...because it erodes all of the progress...and rightly so.

I thought i already said why we should be happy that the word isnt just an insult. I'll say it again because the word has progressed into a word that can have a meaning toward comradery. It is no longer just used for hate and discontent.

No a black man cant just say it to another black man. First off they would have to be friends for it to not be used in hate and yes i've seen it use to white people from black people and from white people to black people. Sure thats on the smaller end of usage but it is still there.

I agree with your point on some being made because its a double standard. I also agree there are blacks that dispise its usage regardless of the situation. However that doesnt change anything i said because i never implied everyone feels the same or should feel the same about it.

But you do acknowledge that there is a percentage of white people using the word to their black friends. Thats all i needed to see you do know whats going on but choose to be willfully ignorant about it. All you had to do was say that to begin with and this shit would have stopped 5 pages ago.
