Re: Faith in humanity levels dropping
Exactly..."willingfully ignorant is being blatantly stupid" and "willingfully ignorant" is an oxymoron. Ignorance, in my opinion, is simply lack of knowledge....period. Sure a person can be stupid and ignorant at the same time but these terms are not related whatsoever...they are two completely unrelated conditions. One means limited or poor capacity of understanding (stupidity), the other is just lack of knowledge (ignorance)

Ok, I can agree with most/all of that. Now answer me this, if in your opinion the only use for the word is ignorance or condemnation then why would it be most popular among those that it is supposedly most harmful to? That would be like me saying to you, "Yo honky, I really hate the word honky, it's so offensive. Know what I'm saying my honky?"

Bullshit. You can call it straw man all you want. If a word is offensive then it is offensive. It is not offensive based on who is saying it. If I walk up to you and say your mom/wife/sister is a fucking whore, that is offensive. It matters not who I am. If you have any pride you will do something about it. Just like if African Americans truly, and I mean truly, were that offended by the word they wouldn't just beat the shit out of white folk that say it, but their peers as well.
Is it ok for a white person to say it? Not in my opinion.
Is it ok for a brown person to say it? Not in my opinion.
Is it ok for a red person to say it? Not in my opinion.
Is it ok for a yellow person to say it? Not in my opinion.
Is it ok for a black person to say it? Not in my opinion.
Is it ok for a blue person to say it? Not in my opinion.
If the majority of the population wanted the word to go away then NOBODY would use it.

I guess what I don't get is how a word can be the single most offensive word to a group of people, be it any word to any group, and yet be one of the most popular words to use among said group of people. If it is offensive to you then don't use it. Otherwise you can't blame someone else for being "ignorant' OR "stupid".

This is a very simplistic outlook, and it's wrong. Of course it matters who you are. If my wife's friends called each other whores, they wouldn't be offending each other. If a random stranger said it, it would certainly be offensive. I remember on this forum someone using a pejorative term for Marine non-infantry, and it was pointed out, correctly, that if you weren't in the marines, you shouldn't be using that word, because it has a different meaning coming from someone outside of the group than it does when it comes from the inside.

This article isn't about black people using the word, it's about a bunch of white people using the word to describe a holiday celebrating a black American. Of course that's racist.
Whatever motivation some black people have using this word, it isn't hate, and in it's street slang usage, it's used in a completely different context than it is when, say the people in the original post were using it.

Re: Faith in humanity levels dropping
itīs quite simple....whoever uses this word amongst said group of people is being blatantly stupid...the use of this word is most common among the youths of this ethnicity right?? So...if whoever uses this word constantly in reference to another black person..that makes that person stupid...so if itīs one of the most popular words to use among said group of people...that makes said group of people extremely stupid (I would attribute the use of the word to mostly young people though).
So what Iīm saying is...if there are 30 million black people in the U.S. and 10 million black people in the U.S. commonly use this word with each other...that makes 10 million black people extremely stupid.
