You make a decent point about the Independents having a tough time breaking into the mainstream, but I don't think that including them in the debates would do any good. Most likely, it would take time away from the people who actually have a chance to win, and those are the people we need to hear from most.
Funny you mention American Idol.....because that is what American politics have tuned into.

Why couldn't they win? The thought that only 2 parties can win elections is what helps the two parties continue to win elections (i.e. the "wasted vote" thing is saying a person should only vote R or D, yet if people voted 3rd party, then it wouldn't be a wasted vote). Speaking of which, how did Perot get a decent chunk of votes the year he ran? I only know bits and pieces about it, but it happened when I was too young to care about politics, so did he have a ton of money or something else?

Re: Tax Credit deal financed on the backs of mortgage holders
Im about a month away from closing on my first house right now and I will admit I didnt read all of this. I did read the first post though and the gist of it looks like people are pissed that they have to spend $9000 more over 30 years ($25 extra a month) instead of $50/month. Am I missing something or wrong in my numbers?
Seems like the norm now is just bitchbitchbitch instead of looking at the big picture...
