Here in Oregon we have had the option to vote by mail since I was able to vote. I believe being able to vote by mail has been shown to have a substantially higher voter turnout.
Vote by mail! It's the modern age, we may as well get close to it...

And they are at least partially correct thanks in part to the electoral college. Example: 2000 Presidential election.
I always vote by mail. Very convenient.

Someone beat me (sort of) to the the American Idol comment, but still, have the last debate on/day before the voting day and make it a sing-off competition (sponsored by Starbucks or Apple or whatever shit will get most people interested), and have people vote at the polls/on-line for the winner with a big results show, full of 8 billion commercials of course, showing who won.
Sure, we'd only get the best president at singing, but at least you'd get people to vote right? =P
