The key words in the article are "double dipping". That's a big no-no. I have a friend who was a cop here that was doing side jobs after his normal work shift. Standard fare for cops really... Security detail at the housing in town... That kind of thing.
He rounded up to the nearest 15 minutes and left for his next security job and got there a few minutes later, clocked in, and that was that. However the last place walked in a few minutes after he left and found that he wasn't there but was "technically" still on the job. When times were corroborated he was found to be on the clock at both places. Those few minutes on the clock both places were considered "double dipping" and lost him his job not only at those security details, but on the police force as well.
If the average Joe can't double dip, then neither should they be able to. If you are getting paid to work your job, then you can't also be getting a pension for that job. Simple as that. And it don't matter WHAT political affiliation you are.
