Also not every woman is going to have medical issues of which you are referring to and I bet a lot of women will use birth control for well screwing around and not getting pregnant. If we are paying for BC for these women are we going to pay for their STD treatment?

Every woman experiences menstration and menstrual cramps not to mention the mood changes that accompany it. You also assume that every woman is a slut who sleeps around with anyone. The average woman sleeps with 4 men in her lifetime, and 98% of women who are sexually active use birth control that includes even religious women like catholics. Men, even, only sleep with 7 women on average. Most people are not sluts who sleep with anyone as often as they want.

And, I do believe that we already pay for STD treatment. The herpes (a disease that affects both men and women) medicine business is a booming. You know why STD treatment is covered? Because men can get STDs, too. The only STD I know of that negatively affects only women would be HPV. That of course is treated by a cheap vaccine that is easily applied and can be done so at an early age (see Texas/Rick Perry)

Of course, trying to correlate BC use with STD contraction is well...retarded. BCs are not meant to prevent STDs spreading. That's what condoms and certain vaccines are for.

Furthermore, only 1/3 of women using BC use it for contraceptive purposes (Many American Women Use Birth Control Pills for Noncontraceptive Reasons). Therefore, BC use does not correlate with sexual activity, which further adds weight to the fact that BC use does not correlate to rates of contractions of STDs.

I can also guarantee you that if men had to deal with issues that women have to deal with due to that time of the month, no one would be objecting to this measures.

So what was midol for? Oh that's right to ease the menstrual cramps. Medicine is not booming btw. Have you been in a cave and not seen all the drug shortages? Not every woman is a slut. Don't forget Men pass STD's to women or they jump off toilet seats, heard that once. HIV virus will affect women along with herpees.

My issues is with the women that will use it for the sole purpose of just that, keeping from getting pregnant. A simple condom works and not screwing at all works better for not getting pregnant.

I shouldn't have to pay for joe blows BC. They government shouldn't be telling people they have to sell that and definately not for free. I pay for my meds. Why can't they? That's what I am trying to say.

Re: Rush has done the impossible

You didn't read the link I posted about how only 1/3 of women on BC use it for contraceptive purposes.

Also, if a woman only uses Midol, she's also going to need a mood stabilzer, an anti-depresant, bloating medicine, pain meds, etc. That all is covered by insurance BUT costs a lot more than take only 1 pill a day.

There are really only medicine shortages for certain drugs and largely in more remote areas. Of course, some of those shortages are only because medicine is new.

Furthermore, if there is a high demand for a medicine, do you really think that drug companies won't step up production? Do you really think they'll say no, I don't want to make money hand over fist for a condition that affects 50% of America. That's not just a billion dollar market. That represents 10s of billions of dollars.

Vaccine shortages are more common, but only because if some can't be affected by something they don't have to pay for a lifetime's worth of treatments.

And, please don't bring up abstinence only education (especially with your admitted history). That shit leads to MORE pregnacies, MORE abortions, HIGHER STD contraction rates, etc.

yep, that pipeline would of been a real job maker. Of course if there was a plan to repair bridges and roads and create say 100,000+, I doubt there would be such a push to get it through, because its "gubment!"

Uh, you do realize that we actually export more oil than we import right now? You do realize that the amount of oil produce by the Gulf States even with the BP disaster hit an all time high last year and is going up still? You do realize that under Obama, oil production is up significantly? You also do realize that Obama (that dirty socialist) is wanting to lower the corporate tax rate so to keep more jobs and investment in the country? You do realize that it is the Republican party that has been attempting to stonewall all of these efforts? Of course you do. The liberal members of government sure aren't perfect (they are politicians after all), but they are actually attempting to do something constructive some of the time as opposed to turning this country into a fucking theocracy to rival Iran.

Not to mention that that would have pumped lots of money into local economies.

Wow. It's like you're not even trying.

Did you read the linked article?

The issue isn't birth control. The woman (women) in question is in need of health care. The problem is that the treatment is ALSO used for birth control, and the insurance plan provided through the religiously affiliated institution won't pay for it.

Of particular interest to you might be the section where the president of the university commends the woman who has been on TV as upholding the highest traditions of the institution.

    Please allow me to quote:

“She provided a model of civil discourse,” he said in a letter to the school. “This expression of conscience was in the tradition of the deepest values we share as a people. One need not agree with her substantive position to support her right to respectful free expression.”

He branded the reaction of Limbaugh and some other commentators as “misogynistic, vitriolic and a misrepresentation of the position of our student.”

Evidence is pretty strong here that the second part of that quote applies to you as well.

    Cheers,

    AetheLove
