How else do you explain politicians, from both sides, chastising banks, bailing them out, merging them together, then threatening to split them up? It is all the dance of what will get me (re)elected today.
What they promise isn't the same as what they do. I don't care about what they promise either, just what they do. I don't care if Obama promised to close Guantanimo, I don't care if he really wanted to do it, deep in his heart, I care that he didn't do it. The same goes for the banks. Why would I care whether he wants to do what he does? Do I care if my janitor likes sweeping? No, I care that he does his job. The same goes for my elected officials.

I have to disagree with that. Intentions and wants weigh more on a politician then they do a janitor. He may want to close gitmo but it was never within his power to do so to begin with. He may have wanted a free healthcare system free of penalties and as he learned that was not within his power either. Both sides equally fucked that bill up. I also take concern with someone not liking the job in the case of a politician. If he doesn't like being the representative of the American people he can step aside and let someone else that does take that position.

The job is to important to have corruption and a give a shit attitude. That should be painfully clear to everyone in this country by now.
