but nothing specifically on the religion of Islam? I have taken history classes, polysci and econ ones too, I avoided English classes but I am only a semester away from a philosophy bachelors degree. But I didn't get as much detail as that intro book into what Islam is. Not what you can gather from putting things together from conjecture.
I have had numerous course on religion Ethics in the Abrahamic tradition (aka Judaism, Christianity and Islam), course called Islam, I also had a course that was preparing me to visit the Islamic world prior to the Islamic Spring and hell add my philosophy course that compared the philosophies of Christianity, Judaism and Islam.
I can tell you with certainty that the way Muslims practice varies immensely depending on location. While the major division is Shi'ite and Sunni. Regional tradition is often blurred into the religion.
Irregardless of all that, I still fear that, and after completing the reading of the thread, that the vast majority of people who will be participating in this event will be doing it out of ignorance and not to defend their right to free speech.
But again like my last post said, I hope that sooner than later people will begin to learn about the other people who inhabit the world with them. The sooner the better.

Totally conjecture to read first hand sources of Islamic scholars.
The censoring of speech merely because one single faith believes something is blasphemous is not a problem specific to one region. My point in bringing up specific countries with significant percentages of the worldwide muslim population was to point out that this is not just a few thousand people getting violent. The censoring issue spreads even further including several western civilizations where the muslim community is more moderate.
Pet Peeve: Irregardless is not a word. The correct word is regardless.
For the other people in the world thing, maybe people should learn that there are a plethora of faiths out there and a whole lot of people of no specific faith or no faith at all. Then, they might realize how rude it is to say DO WHAT MY FAITH SAYS OR ELSE! You follow a religion, fine; I think you're silly, but you can do that. You start legislating so other people have to obey your religion? Big problem.enf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P
