Ignorance is bliss, eh? Not to mention the fact that we always agree that the current system is shit and not nearly representative. I'm not going to rehash everything, but if you ask me about something, i tell you how I see it. But it really is that the massive stupidity and borderline fascist attitudes of the Republicans eats up most of my criticisms.

Those are hard questions - not least because honest answers can make the answerer uncomfortable. Some people don't like to admit their prejudices. I'm one of those. I suspect you are too (and by "you" I mean you. Yes, you. You know who I mean).

Damnit.

So when is it acceptable? Sometimes. Occasionally. More often than zero, but less often than whatever you say is the right amount. I think the answer to the question has more to do with the motivation for use rather than the specific circumstances. This is a bad answer, but you threw the word "negative" in there and made it even harder.

Answer to question two: Because they're people. Flawed. And they see the world through their own eyes. I try to be open to the possibility that I'm a complete asshole, but am unaware. I think it helps me be less of an asshole; sort of like downhill skiing where leaning forward is the better error - and gives you a better chance regain control. If you need to slow down, leaning back is death.

Three: because sometimes it's "My Team vs Your Team", and sometimes it's "Good vs Bad."

The oppressed and the privileged are not opposites.

That they are hard questions is the precise reason why I asked them in the manner that I did. They are hard to answer. Especially when negative connotation is explicitly noted.

Thank you for attempting though. And you're correct, I believe, in much of your commentary. Answering hard questions is hard because it forces introspection and possibly self reflection. A large number of people, seem, to dislike those two things because knee-jerk reactions are no longer so easily offered.

But I also hoped to shed light on, and have dialog about, the very real fact that we all, too often, make use of stereotypes for no other reason than to lazily denigrate someone's argument. It serves no valid point though in discussions.
