The high energy compounds in the plant (chlorophyl, xanthophyl, etc.) are extremely carcinogenic when burned, concentrated and inhaled. MJ smokers tend to smoke a fraction of the volume of a cigarette smoker though. Unfortunately we don't have enough data on this point to make a cancer correlation stick; but I am sure it does if you smoke ANYthing.

I dont believe i said anything that contradicts your statement here. I agree we do not have enough info. Thats been my point the whole time along with getting that information to put this to bed.

Inhaling any smoke is bad, but burnt green plants are pretty toxic (cigarette smoke is much "better" for you, but smokers smoke way more mass). But the actual carcinogenicity of smoking MJ is not well studied. But it is now being studied because people need to investigate it as a medicine due to these claims.

On that note, they have done a lot of research on medicinal uses, but we don't really have many longitudinal studies to draw on (yet). So I will say (as previously) we know a lot about it, and what it makes you do in terms of immediate behavior and addiction; but we are on the fence about many medical claims.

Although the appetite stimulating properties are well understood.
