Using the bible as a point of reference is such bs. There's a line in the bible that tells you to eat your children. There's a whole story in the bible where a guy climbs a mountain to kill his kid because a voice told him to. Great parenting there.

Im fine with the concept of spanking but it should not bethe corner stone of child raising

I would have said that if I was still christian. I didn't stand for hypocritical interpretations of the bible then, and I don't now.

Anyone who reads and preaches the old testament in verbatim is completely ignorant. I was unaware we still fought wars with trebuchets and catapults. The only people who bring that nonsense up are the smug atheists who are lacking in respect similar to this kid in this situation.

The issue with this kid is that he has no respect both for others and himself. It has nothing to do the presence or lack of a structured belief system.

Wait, so when I brought it up when I was a christian, what was I then? I was saying that stuff when I believed in faith healing, when I believed what Jesus said. Christians also bring up the Old Testament all of the time; you know the part about gays, original sin, young earth, the ten commandments, etc? If the old testament is so derelict, then why is it still attached to the majority of bibles out there and quoted in sermons so often?

I also never said I was an atheist or said anything specifically relating to atheism in that statement. YOU brought that up as you always do to flame.

And me lacking respect? If people earn it, I give it. Hell, people have to lose my respect before I stop showing it. If I don't know a person, I'll act as if they've earned it. I open doors for other people, and I say thank you when others do it for me. I pay for other peoples' meals and groceries if I see them come up short. I volunteer. I donate. I drive my friends places when they need a ride. Yet, I am like those kids because I'm a "smug atheist"? I'm sure I'll understand your logic when I'm older, right?
