Re: Chuck Norris Fact: Bigot
In the actual statement he never openly professes hate towards gays, but he slips up in one sentence regarding mixing secular religions into faith missions and it becomes clear this is not about protecting the Scouts freedoms and rights (which is what many people lean on to have logic about gays in scouts)
I was a scout for two years when I was young (Troop 316) but left due to the religious practices.
Some people do actually admire Cheese Norris and he is a role-model to some (not sure why...).
Plus, it's TTP now TPG; so I know some of y'all think Walker, Texas Ranger is the shizzle, so I had to get in a little knuckle dig while swingin'

We never did anything religious in my Troop that I recall except for the Pledge, but it's kind of hard to get around that one.

Re: Chuck Norris Fact: Bigot
We had a Church like meeting on Sundays if we were at an event (mandatory). My buddies uniform was soiled once so they made him wear no shirt during the thing. We also had a morning prayer thing during events. ugh..
This was 26+ years ago though...
I am involved in some tracking groups (one of my favorite things to do is get out in nature) and there are people considering starting something like BSA that is open to all who want to learn the ways of the wilds and get some team-building exercise.
