Re: Cern announces discovery of Higgs boson
Did someone say Colorado?
I for one am happy that the scientists think they found what they spent billions of dollars and thousands or tens of thousands or more of man-hours trying to find. It may just be me and my wacky thinking, but they deserve to blow a load if they want. Who knows what experiments or inventions they have been waiting to start/finish just because of this one piece of the puzzle, I surely don't since I have no idea what they are working on or what this opens up for them.

Re: Cern announces discovery of Higgs boson
I could drop 50 names that I would love to meet and get to know here at TPG...didn't want to offend anyone. Some of the most interesting conversations I have ever been a part of (or just read) have been here at TPG. But I gotta say Alundil, you are right, Xav and DG in the same room might just be a huge mistake.....on the other hand it might just be the most interesting time a person could ever have.

Deal on the "first one's on me".
Back on topic: I agree with DG that research like this doesn't seem to be "at the moment important", but we really don't know until it all shakes out. Seeing the amount of $$ that was spent it's hard not to wonder if it all was worth it, but like I always say, sowing seeds almost always provides fruit (maybe Martha Stewart said that--I can't really remember). When it comes to advancing our species, every little bit of knowledge helps. I just hope we can use it for the good.Last edited by Bubbasam; 07-10-12 at 04:25 PM.
