Re: What's that you say?
School vouchers have always been a bad idea, but it's nice to hear a religious group call out bullshit like that. No wonder we have declining levels of education. Let's move money away from public schools and into schools that have no accountability nor are required to meet any basic levels of education and where teachers are paid even less. Sounds like a good idea! Any "school" that doesn't teach evolution or teaches that creationism is a valid "alternative" should never, ever be given a dime of taxpayer money. Anti-science zealotry is rampant in the religious right, and we should be doing everything we can to stamp out that ignorance, not encourage it.

It's a big deal in Louisiana where I am; unfortunately, unlike with Texas where there is the well funded TFN, Louisiana's version of TFN is not so well funded. There are even countless studies that show that the students in the pilot version of the voucher system performed worse than the students who stayed in public schools. There are also schools like one where I am that teach via DVDs with teachers only there to answer questions if they arrive; that same school has accepted 250 vouchers yet lacks the buildings, teachers, and equipment to teach them.
