Re: Dishonorable discharge
They are taking part in a partisan political ad. Yes, they are lying. Just because someone was in the special forces does not mean they are some perfect beings. They are still human. And that Ben Smith guy seems like a giant douchebag. "No, Mr. President, you didn't kill him. Amurika did!" Lol...
As one example, they were whining about someone admitting the US was behind Stuxnet. So the fuck what? It had been known long before that that it was a US-Israeli cyberattack.
I don't give a shit about leaks because I like my government open and transparent, and if they are going to do so willingly, I'd hope a brave whistleblower would step forward and leak the info.
The last time someone fought in defense of this nation was arguably WW2. Since then, we haven't fought a war in self-defense. I have no interest in putting my life on the line to fight for our corporatocracy's best interests. It's time to drastically cut the out-of-control defense budget.

I think your jumping the gun just a bit. The pres isn't the only one that knows whats going on. Any number of people could leak information up to and including those special ops personel. No one here is saying leaking information is a good thing. They are simply saying from what i see the speech the pres gave did not leak any info. Which it didn't.

Re: Dishonorable discharge
Any time a weapon is picked up by a member of our military it is in service and defense of this nation. Just because they aren't storming our beaches doesn't mean it isn't in defense. As an example right now we have a war on terror. How many of those terrorists had plans to do something here on our soil? You dont know because they never got the chance.

Re: Dishonorable discharge
I strongly disagree. It makes for a nice motto, but I don't think it is true. You could say a few of the recent wars were fought over our interests, but not in our defense. I don't oppose all military action, but I also hate how every war has people saying the troops are over there "fighting for our freedoms." They aren't. In Korea and Vietnam, we support vicious dictators because they were our "friends" and we had to stop those dirty commies from spreading. Iraq 1 was about Kuwait's freedom, not ours. Iraq 2 was about absolutely nothing. I supported initial action into Afghanistan, but the current occupation is only serving to kill more Americans.
And how well have they defended our freedoms? Well, we have the PATRIOT Act. Military Commissions Act. Department of Homeland Security. The TSA. Doing a bang-up job, I see.

You can disagree all you want but its very simple. Every base, consulate, , embassy, and every other building our government has anywhere in the world is sovereign US soil. Which means if we set up an impromptu base anywhere its ours to defend. So you can disagree but your still wrong.
The rest your entitled to your opinion regardless of how fucked up i think it is.
