Re: Electoral College Favors Obama
I don't know how interesting it is. Some of that money spent on campaigning in Florida is spent in Florida. That's good for Floridians.
TV and Radio ads are run on TV and Radio stations in Florida. That's good for those businesses. Same for any other sort of advertizing.
Some people from elsewhere go to Florida to work on the campaign there. That means hotel/motel money, food, etc. It's similar to tourism. Those dollars get spread around a lot; rental cars and gas, entertainment (I hear that people on political payrolls like to have fun), dry cleaning - all the bits and pieces of life that people away from home have to buy.
There are other examples. I have no idea how much money it actually turns out to be. A lot of money get spent on campaigns, and it all gets spent somewhere. I can't think of any state that wouldn't want the money spent on courting votes.

Other than the fact that things like hotels, rental cars, food, drinks, movies, etc are all taxed, and most of them quite well. Those tax dollars benefit the residents of Florida and/or the city/county. How exactly they are used to benefit those people is entirely another debate.

I have no idea how much it really is - and said so up top. What I do think I know is that you've come off crustier and more surly in the forums than usual the last couple days.
Your drug trafficking example is interesting. I suppose a fair amount of money gets spent to support the production and distribution of drugs both within and through Florida. Though I think we can all agree that the crime, violence, addiction, lost productivity, and ruined lives probably outweigh the benefits, there's no reason to deny that there are benefits. At some level, it's just commerce.
But political campaigning isn't as bad as illegal drugs (close, maybe, but not quite :) and other than the fact that the entire process pisses you off, I can't understand why you'd try to deny that being a contested state in a national election doesn't bring in money.

I deny it because it doesn't to the vast vast majority of people in florida. Yes those with money get a bit more put in theirs. Look i've been here for every visit while they shut down major traffic routes for them to get to their fund raisers. I've seen the hardships it puts on people when they cant use I-4 the only highway thru orlando. Well unless you want to use a toll road.
As for me being crustier and more surly the last couple days. My limit on bullshit is at its peak.

But I thought the people with the most money getting more money helps the economy? Isn't that what they have been saying?
