Some people say that our voting system is no longer effective, but I beg to differ. One only needs to read the article below to see it is working fine.
Dead candidates win elections in Florida, Alabama - Yahoo! News
I am not near as concerned about dead people voting as I am them WINNING!

Re: Keep the faith in our political system...
Some people vote for the party, not the person. If your (dead) candidate wins, there might be a second election with a non-dead one from your party. If the other guy wins, then you get the other guy.
Pretty morbid, but I'll bet there's good jokes to be had.
"Yeah, it was a tough campaign. There were fatalities."
Edit: also, as a practical matter, allowing dead candidates to win is a disincentive to kill your opponent.

Re: Keep the faith in our political system...
This very thing happened here in Iowa this year. Sen. Pat Ward died following her second battle with breast cancer. She still won the election. On Dec 11th there will be a special election between her dem. opponent and another repub. who was selected after a special nominating convention. I knew Sen. Ward and her family as loyal customers at my restaurant, and they were very nice people. I know "there's good jokes to be had" in this situation can apply for others here, but I will not be one who partakes. I'm not bitter or angry at the jokes, I understand them, but this was a good person who I really liked and respected.
