I find this incredibly weak. I would, of course, not like to see Texas go, since it's got some great industries, and is one of the only states in the region that actually contributes more to the federal government than it takes. On the other hand, without their influence on national text books, maybe we could nip this creationism problem in the bud.

Re: Texas Petition To Secede reaches threshold for comment from the white house.
At least 17 other states have similar petitions to the Texas secession request on the We the People forum including New Jersey, New York, Montana, Colorado, Louisiana, Georgia, Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Indiana, North Carolina, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, South Carolina, Oregon and Michigan. The closest behind Texas was Louisiana with 15,617 signatures.
I'm kidding.

yeah...i saw this, but i thought it was a joke. good for them? i think all the states should be loosely affiliated independent countries. the smaller the government, the easier it is to control.
head to head, chest to chest, which country is the very best? and in the land of rape and honey, you pray.

Re: Texas Petition To Secede reaches threshold for comment from the white house.
It cracks me up every time I see another "Texas is gonna secede" story. You're telling me that heavy weight business/industry leaders want that kind of headache? Its sad that even a porous online petition can only get like what .001% of the population of Texas to sign on for something that Perry obliquely asks for.
What I don't understand about the whole deal about seceding is that wouldn't Texas's influence decrease? My history might be shaky but I also believe that Texas is the only state that can leave if it wants, kinda no harm no foul style.

What can we say... We're tired of the political bullshit.
If the other states had balls even 1/8 the size of ours, they'd secede too.
