Re: Pay Raises.
Yes back to normal for federal employees, that see their wages increase while the wages of the people paying for them decrease. I really don't like to spend too much time on this types of issues. The reason being is that these federal pay raises are really a drop into an Olympic size swimming pool, which is our national deficit. Still it doesn't change the fact that they are not warranted.
I would propose a law that freezes pay raises for federal employees any time there is a decline in wages for the American work force. As I said, the American workforce has taken an 8% pay cut over the last few years. Had such a law been in place, federal workers would not have to take an 8% pay cut like the rest of us, they wouldn't take any pay cut for that matter, they just wouldn't be eligible to get an increase at the expense of the tax payer.
I see what you mean, about it going back to "normal". It's not like Obama passed some new law giving all federal employees raises, that law was already in place, he just decided not to do anything about it this time. And really I don't remember Fox News praising the president for freezing federal wages when he did it, but now that he has not, they're demonizing him for it.
Still that "normal" that you speak of is a flawed system. I know it's flawed, because there is no way that federal employees should be seeing increases in their pay when the rest of the American people are seeing significant decreases.
So it's unjust any way you look at it. The taxes taken from the American workforce pay for federal wages. Now the American work force has seen an 8% decrease in their wages. So not only are they getting paid less, more of their tax money is being spent to give pay increases to federal workers.

Re: Pay Raises.
You forgot the part where i mentioned unless a budget is passed while running without a deficit. Sorry but you take a government job part of the concerns taking it is whether or not there is money for raises and continued employment. Kind of like the same concern everyone in the private sector has to worry about.
