Century Aurora Theater to reopen

Century Aurora theater reopening in night of remembrance - The Denver Post

I don't really want to comment on if they should or shouldn't reopen, I don't live there and thus really doesn't matter. Apparently a large majority of people in Aurora did want it to be reopened and there are some good cases for it why it should be. Personally I don't think I would want to go to the theater, just would feel...weird and even disturbing.

What do you all think about it? Is it a good idea or bad idea to reopen? Or doesn't not matter/not your place to say. Would you be okay with seeing a movie there sometime or would it bother you?

People die in hotel rooms, then they still book that room later. It may be slightly weird because you know, but I would still go.

Ford theater reopened after Lincoln was shot and the world trade center reopened after 9-11. I see no reason a movie theater shouldn't.

I don't go to theaters anyway.

Oh and I now consider the Post an unreliable source.

I tend to think it's no so much of a big deal. I can understand the people not wanting to go there because of tragic losses or memories or both. But the reality is that society can't afford (and I am not referring to finances) the shuttering (or memorializing) countless numbers of places because there was some bad event that occurred there. Life happens and it's not always good. In fact it's less often "good" than bad. We'd run out of places sooner or later.

Did we shut down New York because of 9/11? No.

We can't allow the media to create martyrs of these evil people. We should do our best to remember those who died in the tragedy, but we should not set the standard that shooters can create a lasting effect on our society and economy.

In my opinion, I don't think we should even mention the names of the shooters. That's why they do it. They are alone and angry, and they go out with a bang so that somebody knows their name. Reopening the Century Aurora is an example that we can move on. That we sane folks have the power, and not the insane.

Would I go to it? Sure.
