Unfortunately that doesn't mean we don't see any combat...was true in my Dad's day...has changed in the past 5-6 years.

Back on topic, Like I said in my first post, I agree they shouldn't be in spec-ops, infantry and armor units under most circumstances(Pint has a good example of why it's not all bad), because of the psychological issues it causes with men, especially the type of men you will usually find in those areas. But, because of the major initiative towards Equal Opportunity and the fact that women have shown they are more than capable in combat in other area's, I just feel it was a question of when, not if, the ban on women in those units was lifted.
In my attempt to be light heartedly joking with you on that statement i can see how it could be taken that way and i apologize. I meant no real disrespect. I also offer my condolences to you for the loss of your comrade. Thats never an easy thing.

I dont disagree that it was a matter of when. Unfortunately it should have never been a possibility. It creates more problems then it solves. No one is even saying females in the military is a bad thing but front line duty is just a bad idea.

Smells more like an Obama directive. He's a "champion of the woman". Panetta is just the puppet.

My condolences on the loss of your fellow soldier Illusion. Their loss is felt in every branch, every time.

Any company, platoon, squad or individual of any branch could find themselves in the middle of a shit storm at any give time but females in front line duty as a directive is a bad idea in my opinion, as a voluntary choice I'm fine with and if we ended up in the same proverbial foxhole I'd treat her no different than a male counter part and would expect no less in return. In other words be prepared to do your job or get the fuck back to the kitchen.

As for what branch see's front line action, front line action is wherever it finds you!

    Case in point:

Don't kid yourself, they all do. I'm willing to admit Romney had ulterior motives and shouldn't be considered a white knight no matter what he says. Are you willing to admit the same thing for Obama?

lol Ranger, I was pretty much just making fun of Romney's "Binders full of women" comment.

As for your question though, politicians cannot be white knights by definition. They're FAR too self-serving. Every last one of them.
