Re: New Immigration Policy on the way?
I look at immigration this way...
If someone is willing to swim a deadly, fast flowing river, cross an inhospitable desert with only the food and water on their backs, while dodging guys with guns just to work in our country, they are the people I WANT here. I just want them to use the front door. Don't insult those who have come before you, yet did it the "right way", but going around the system. We can, and should, certainly streamline it. But we've needed to make the process better for a long time.
And deportation of those who don't should be priority one. Penalizing those companies who hire illegals are just as at fault.Last edited by Ranger10; 01-28-13 at 03:07 PM.

You'll take what you're given (in this case, donkey cock) and you'll like it. Quit yer complainin
That's exactly what I'd like as well. I hope they up the punishments on those businesses, and wouldn't mind even if the punishments put a few out of business. Let them serve as an example: Do things the right way, or don't do them at all.

The biggest issue in terms of going through legal channels over coming illegally is, at least from what I hear, the legal channels are kind of fucked up. Basically when people think it is easier to get here by going the way Ranger said then going through the proper channels is a pretty big clue something either needs to be fixed or streamlined (iirc, the costs are pretty high as well, at least by Mexico standards especially for low skilled workers).
The only issue I had was the favoring of advanced degrees from those who studied in the U.S. Not because it is a bad idea, but why not for anyone with an advanced degree? Obviously keeping the talented people here is incredibly important, but again I think it is better to take people who studied in France or England etc. etc. as well as those in the U.S. Granted that may already be the case (minus the US part) and just don't know it.

Businesses shouldn't be the front line for dealing with illeagals. Important, yes, but they are set-up to create/harvest/produce widgets....not policing illegal immagrants. Reform needs to hit all fronts. We need a streamlined way to become an American citizen, but we also need to come down HARD on those who choose to live here illegally. They get pulled over, the car becomes ours. We get called to a house owned by an illegal, it becomes ours. We need to make the US a terribly hard place to live illegally. Both on the workfront as well as off the clock.
