Re: Unbelievable
Shit, I remember back in the day.. you could walk out in the parking lot of school and see f'n gun racks with shotguns and rifles in them all over the place.
Hell, my wood shop teacher in middle school would drag in his deer and hogs, skin 'em, gut 'em, and clean 'em right there in the wood shop during class. Ole Phil would of been happy, happy, happy.. but now-a-days, as Phil would say.. Yuppism.

Re: Unbelievable
we wonder why we have 21 year old's acting like 12 years olds, its because our system is " swaddling" these kids until they are 18. then they are thrown out of the tree expected to fly. And when they don't stand around and looking at each other wondering what went wrong.

Re: Unbelievable
My son has complained about that. He's 21 now and becoming more self aware, and he was telling me how pissed he was that schools / society are so screwed up like this, that it has really hurt him since he left home. He's had to learn a lot of hard lessons. Then again he never listened to me when he was a kid, he preferred the coddling he got from the system back then. I was a hard ass, but my influence was like the influence of a garden hose to stop a wave from crashing with all the other influences on that kid. One thing I am confident of at the very least though is that my son would not sit down and be a victim in a situation like that.
Synopsis: parenting is hard.

Re: Unbelievable
He'll come to appreciate that foot in his ass eventually. My Dad was a hard-ass too, and it took a looooong time for me to appreciate what he had done for me. I'm glad I was able to thank him for the foot in my ass before he passed. Someday, your son will realize what you have done for him, and how hard it was for you to do.
Synopsis: Sperm donating is easy, being a good Dad is sometimes hard and usually thankless......but keep it up.

Re: Unbelievable
I know you don't know me well, but thank you. I really needed to hear that today considering the way the boy has been acting toward me lately. The funny thing about your sperm donor comment is, I adopted my son at the age of 5 after his biological father had abandoned him, his sister and his mother after being incredibly abusive toward them. Talk about a sperm donor! Unfortunately I had to divorce his mother several years ago after 14 years of marriage; she cheated on me and went back to her ex-husband the wifebeater, and now my son won't speak to her so I'm his only real parenting influence. It's been a long, hard road but so far it's been worth it.
