Thread: Two Bombs Explode at Boston Marathon finish line!!

Again pure speculation, but the older brother spent 6 months in Russia last year, it is possible that in that time he could have been solicited by a radical group. We'll have to wait and see, I'm sure the FBI is going to go through all of their phone records, emails, mailing letters and anything they can get their hands on. If there is a link to a foreign group, I'm sure they'll be some evidence of it.

Edit: Dammit I had a link to a video from an MSNBC analysis saying that finding out who the brother was involved with in that 6 month stay in Russia could be key to finding a motivation. Apparently I didn't post the link with this post and now I can't find it.

Good question. Personally i call it an act of terrorism because of the motivation. The subscription to Inspire, the connections to radical Islamic propaganda sites, his own stated disenfranchisement with America, all things that other radical terror groups use as their calling cards. Even though he (Nidal Hassan) appears to have acted alone, the message he sent was in line with what other terror groups have done, right down to yelling Allah Ahua Akbar before discharging his weapon. Im sure he holds a position on Martyrdom with some of those groups.

Something like Columbine on the other hand had motives that were specific to the perpetrators. There are no terror groups that shoot up schools or bomb buses and planes in the name of being an ostracized student, or a social out cast. But that may play a greater role in the Boston bombers motives than we know at this point. At the moment, its leaning toward the Islamic terror end of the scale, but only slightly in my opinion. Like i said, im interested in learning the motives to satisfy my own curiosity, to get into the head of someone who could do this, not to give the act any kind of legitimacy.

This is the kind of thing that really adds interest to the story. Things just don't add up yet.
