Naw....Duddy has a point. Our State gov't has been using the marraige debate as a smokescreen. They have some pretty contentious budget problems in front of them, and instead of working on them, they have been using their time getting their pictures taken on the steps of the capitol. Now they are going to need a new smokescreen.
That being said, I'm proud of my state, and the strides we have taken. I hope we make it easier for other states.

No, he doesn't have a point. Equal rights, what this all about, are important...in every state. Even flyover country. This isn't trivial business and won't have any impact on your state budget, good or bad.

This is a gaming forum so I'll use a gaming metaphor.
People are always moaning that patches are less timely than they'd like to see, and when a marketing release is issued someone will complain that they should have been fixing the bugs instead. What they fail to mention is that there are different departments within a software company, and people are working on different things. Work goes on and a marketer is not doing their job if they're twiddling thumbs waiting for 1.2.33.4 to be released.
My point is, there are more than a few legislators, there are many bills introduced everywhere and you can't work on only one at once, this is one of the easiest things to Get Done, and so it was.

Did you even read what I said or did you just see Vikings and assume thats all I care about? I never said football is more important than equal rights. In fact in my post I stated pretty clearly what my opinion is on the matter and just conveyed what others are thinking/feeling up here.
Even though I know you wont be reading this for a while now, Ill reiterate what I said. For me personally I dont care what you do in the privacy in your own home, thats your business.
I do feel that our state legislators could be spending their valuable time on hammering out a budget for the next year so that we as tax payers wont have to suffer for their ineffectiveness at a later date. This usually means, at least here in MN, that the state legislators will have to have an extra/special session to approve a budget that should have been done already. Then when this happens the government usually shuts down, or operations get suspended for a couple weeks and this just happens to coincide with the 4th of July holiday, which really messes with more than just 10% of the states population (using 10% on the national average have no idea what the MN % is). This also means government services like; state parks, state troopers, DNR officials, all state employees, government buildings and agencies will not be in use during a holiday that for us up here is all about getting in the outdoors and enjoying the vast offerings that Minnesota has to offer. But hey without a proper state budget parks, road services, etc wont be available because same sex marriage was more important than passing a working budget so that the state can operate.
And the only reason why I mentioned the Vikings stadium is because I think it is a little shaky for a government, at any level, to not come up with monetary funds for something that they put into law and are now responsible legally to pay for. I dont know about you, but I sure would like my state government to be able to pay for something they said they would.
Bottom line is Im happy and proud to be in this state right now. I just feel as the current state of affairs are right now in the state, this is something that could have been done at a later date so that the legislators could spend more time focusing on making sure the state can operate effectively.
