Re: Should Police Prosecute False Claims of Rape?
Ok I have to tell you I have actually seen this. The person making the claim was mentally unstable and made the claim based on what can best be described as false memories... long story. The guy in the case was convicted based solely on the testimony of the victim, with no other evidence.

Mental issues, maybe drinking too much (though from what I've read, the effects are temporary and should be able to remember later *shrugs*, perphaps a mix of mental issues and drinking?)?
Also in terms of no mistaken claims, etc. It seems from what has been said here and maybe a couple of the articles, there is an over reliance on witness testimony (in this case the victim). Despite the fact that witness testimony is unreliable. Secondly, again as mentioned, while we pretend people are innocent until guilty AND a jury will be impartial and only weigh the facts, it appears possible (if not likely), both of those have become 120% bullshit (if they ever weren't bullshit to begin with).
