How about this...
The first side to prove either wins (and no Wikipedia, please). Ready... GO!

If they were discussing the topic at hand instead of changing it into the same "dog chasing it's tail" argument we have seen round and round again, then sure. But at very least, I am glad my presence made it on the DG's Top 10 list of the evening.
And for the record, years ago, I would have gladly taken part in the "make fun of the bible beaters for being so gullible and ignorant" session... but I guess I just chose that they are adults and can believe whatever they want as long as they are not physically harming anyone and are not bothering me and my family. I have been down this path with many people before, and it never did any good... it just ruined some good friendships because some people take this shit WAY too seriously, and I personally feel that it WAS a waste of time and could have been avoided.
Maybe I grew up and am more mature about said subjects, maybe I just don't care either way, but I know for sure that I feel differently on the subject and I am NOT passionate about discussing it either way because of the offenses it can cause. Perhaps it is the maturity level of those with the opinion opposite of mine, who knows. It is the same reason political talk is "taboo" in the workplace. Because people are immature and can't stop from being offended or taking things personally when someone expresses their opinion, which is what I see here with this subject, time and time again.
Again, that doesn't mean I won't sit on the sidelines and watch. I just won't try to convince anyone into sharing the same opinion as me. They are all adults (hopefully) and can decide for themselves.

If creationists win, they get to go to the Galapagos and have a finch hunt. The person that kills the most individual "species" of finches gets a statue built to forever remind the people that Darwin was WRONG. If the evolutionists win, then I would say a bible burning party would be in order. Oh, and TAX THEM!!!

Re: Evolution, Genetics, and Resistant Viruses
Not to stray to far off topic but being passionate about a topic doesn't make someone any less mature. Passion for things has done a great many things for man kind and against it. The real problem in science and religion is when the actual passion is money or fame.
Think about where we could be if we didnt have our little trekkies and star wars fanatics in the realm of science. There passion to develop laser weapons and shit has pushed us to where we are. Leaps and bounds have been made by those little bastards.
On the flip side of that you dont hear about those small town churches that have faith strictly to spread that faith. What we see is those 40 million dollar building being built in the name of god or earl roberts on tv spreading the faith of send me your money.
I see both sides of the fence. Maybe because i dont go to church and dont place my belief solely in some dipshit counting roach farts in a lab. Both can be equally beneficial and destructive.
That being said i dont think i believe in a creator but something had to start this shit if we're really here to begin with. My real lack of faith is not in a creator its in a book and in thinking science can or should answer all questions. Some should never be asked. Like i wonder what would happen if we mixed sarin gas with highly radioactive particals? Do we really need to proof that two items that can kill on their own will still kill if they're mixed?
I have seen opinions change over time here i'll be it rarely. However to think just because the last conversation went one way or the same as the time before it does not mean it will this time or the next time. People leave and new people come adding their view points to the discussion. That new voice may throw something out there that has not been thought of before or at least discussed before. So try not to thumb your nose at it to much.
Even i have changed my stand point on a few things since i've been here due to a rational argument being placed that i had not heard before. I went from drugs should be illegal to we should do a study at least to find out if the benefits are truly there to use it medically. Sure its not much but im a pretty stubborn fucker if you didn't know so it takes a pretty good argument to get me to change my opinion.

Re: Evolution, Genetics, and Resistant Viruses
I stumbled on to this article this morning, thought it was quite interesting regarding recent mutations in the Human genome. Its a few years old, but interesting even so.
Over the past 10,000 years, their data show, human evolution has occurred a hundred times more quickly than in any other period in our species’ history.

Interesting. Thanks for the link.
I like how they start off with a Stephen J Gould reference. Gould was an excellent public advocate for science.
Anyone who was paying attention to his popular (or academic) work saw him be both convincing and wrong. He had strong disagreements with other prominent scientists. To me, those moments were even stronger advocates.
Cheers,
