So its their fault they didnt see you the few times you went to dog sit? Thats not the same as living in the house. I think your just being argumentative because you have a thing against fire arms. Every stat available shows you are wrong and every person here that owns a fire arm has told you that you are wrong. That should say something.

Re: Do you really have the right to carry a gun in public?
I have nothing against firearms. You want one get one. I just think people over reach with their idea of protection. We live in a such a paranoid society now it's sickening. Yes, there are reasons to be worried, but nothings changed in our country that makes it less safe than it was 20 years ago. I'm just as safe right this moment in my home than I was 15 years ago living in the sticks of a trashy meth infested area of Arkansas. Because I take the precautions to put myself out of the stats of the types of homes that get robbed.

Re: Do you really have the right to carry a gun in public?
I readily admit I'm not very observant, but when it comes to the neighbors it's cause I don't really give a shit either lol. The only time I'm ever at home but outside is when I'm doing yardwork or grabbing the mail. Honestly couldn't care less about my neighbors. Some of it's because I'm somewhat anti-social, some of it is just because I don't give a rat's ass about people I almost certainly don't have anything in common with lol.
Yeah, there are days where my hours are a bit longer, including some Saturdays, but it's generally frowned upon to have huge amounts of overtime at my job. Right now I'm averaging around 10-15 hours of overtime every two weeks, and even that's borderline excessive.
Point being though, I'm rarely at home and never interacting with my neighbors

Your safer now then you were 20 years ago and we go into the many reasons for that if needed. However what has been said in here is not paranoid. Its simply being prepared and being actively involved in what makes every one safer. Your trying to pervert what some do into them being a tin foil hat wearing wanna be super hero and that is not whats going on.

Re: Do you really have the right to carry a gun in public?
When an overwhelming majority of people who own guns never once need them, but still believe they do. Then that to me is paranoia. Or when people like Zimmerman get so paranoid about a black kid in their neighborhood that they follow him, that's paranoia. In my own life, my parents have only once had a "break in" problem. With that in mind, I don't, nor my parents don't, need a gun.

Re: Do you really have the right to carry a gun in public?
And you dont live in sanford so you dont understand why he felt the need to be worried about a black kid in his neighborhood. Sanford has twice the national crime rate. That black kid (your words) had a history of committing crime and was acting suspicious. On top of that your leaving out zimmerman did not approach martin, martin approached him. Just because you dont get it doesnt mean anything out of the ordinary was going on.
However you also just killed your own argument by saying the overwhelming majority of people who own guns never once needed them.
What we can discuss is how there is a stat out that shows guns save FAR more lives then they take. Theres also a stat that shows stand your ground laws reduce crime almost immediately after they go into effect. Theres also stats that show bans on guns increase crime rates but none of that factors into your opinion. All you know is people who own guns are paranoid. I guess people who own cars are paranoid of taking public transportation as well if all it takes is ownership to fit the bill.

Re: Do you really have the right to carry a gun in public?
I think it's funny that you think because you don't need to kill someone or defend yourself *right now*, then you don't need a gun. Hilarious actually.
You are missing the point completely. You don't know if you need a gun until you need one. And then, if you don't have one, it's too late. Ask those people from that movie theater in CO if they knew they would need a gun that night. Or anyone who is a victim of violent crime.
