Actually you're wrong Frost. The tea party focuses on economic issues solely

So, no, that is not a comprehensive view of what America should look like.

Oh that's absolute bullshit and you know it. While you're at it why don't you just say the President has no part in making legislation either. It's just a stupid thing to say any way you look at it. Sponsoring legislation? No of course not. Influencing it or working with congress on it? OF COURSE. WTF do you think the President of the senate does, sit around and wait for a fucking tie vote so he can make a difference? This might be the single dumbest assertion I've seen on this forum since I've been here.
No point in discussing this further, so good luck to you on this. I'll just wait for the masses to jump to your defense on this one. lol

You may have missed this, being out of the country and all....but people, especially politicians, do these things called interviews. Generally, when politicians do them, they talk about their political beliefs. The Tea Party may prioritize economic issues, but they're essentially a founders movement, where they want things how the founders intended....according to their interpretation at least. I don't know about you, but sometimes there's more to something than what is found on wikipedia.

This is the part that makes me think that the entire tea party is nuts - there are many references to the America of old and many look back at the 50's and 60's as an exemplar of those 'ideals'. Setting aside a host of other issue - including racial issue - this 'golden era' we are supposed to be returning to was funded by tax rates that were SIGNIFICANTLY higher than today. In the 1960's the top income tax rate was 91%, yep no typo the tax was 91% of anything over $400k. That's what supported the tea party's historic goal.

You get it better than most that are not totally on board with the Tea Party. I see them as a party that is made of strict Constitutionalists, at least as the common thread. Second to that would be responsible taxing and spending. Somewhere along the line those messages were turned into "No taxes and a Bible in every hand.... oh, and white people only". I wonder how that happened?
Frost, you are the closest one so far to "getting it". It is a founders party of sorts, but we understand things are not as they were in the nations infancy.

And that is why the constitution needs to be updated.
Also, the founders had debt issues as well.
