Re: Partisanship versus reason
Oh wow you really gave me what's what didn't you?
You know what? That's your problem not mine. I've NEVER been full of shit, and stop attacking me. Googling it for the thousands of stories on the subject would have been easier than writing your diatribe. I'm not in the mood to post the facts and then have you attack the source of the information which is years old at this point and that ANY PERSON WHO HAS FOLLOWED GLOBAL WARMING EVEN CASUALLY should know, and try to have an argument about anything but the facts. You telegraphed your game plan in your last post there, skippy.
Tell you what? I'll give you a hand. Start by googling "climate-gate".
Then watch this video. It's a little older but it puts the information quite simply. This guy brilliantly exposes the bullshit:
http://youtu.be/JpfMM3bVbhQ
And look at the date on that video. Wow.
Then read this article:
http://www.forbes.com/sites/jamestay...015-nevermind/
And this:
http://m.washingtontimes.com/news/20...ling-cover-up/
That might get you started. I'm only gonna say this as a response to your personal attack at me - Now I'm all for debate with sources, but this demanding to be spoon fed commonly known information like a baby is ridiculous.
Global warming is bullshit, promulgated by people who stand to make billions from it. Go ahead and google "carbon tax" and "alternative energy", read up on it and put two and two together why dontcha?
One last thing. You weren't saying you disagreed with me? I dunno man, sure looked like you were wanting to disagree. Have a great day.

Re: Partisanship versus reason
I do think that there's quite a large portion of the global warming stance that is false. I do however think that there are some aspects that are completely valid. The aspects I refer to are the depletion of natural resources such as oil, forestry, and animal habitats. I think that there are quite a few things that we should conserve, but to me, the whole drill drill drill mentality is a little archaic and it does nothing for the future of this world.
I understand the cyclical changes that come with earth and it's temperatures but we can not argue that automobiles and other aerosols have some sort of impact on the barrier that protects us from the sun.
The problem with the whole debate is that there just as many pro arguments as there are against. You can post your youtube videos and internet research just as easy as I can post mine. The mere fact is that there isn't enough information to make a solid determination on whether or not there is a problem. The only thing we can do is make steps in the right direction, and that direction is towards alternate energy sources.

So you admit there is evidence both for and against, and I agree, but yet have a problem when he criticizes a quote where the author says people that watch Fox News and refuse to believe that global warming is true have a psychological disorder? Makes sense, or maybe not.

Re: Partisanship versus reason
Drill, drill, drill would fix the immediate problem of dependency on the middle east. It would also eventually lower gas prices provided the "red tape" was kept at a minimum. We have plenty of oil here but we continue to let ourselves live in fear while our enemy's become the richest people on the planet.
I agree.......
The issue is that the idea of Rapid Global Warming was rammed down our necks. Billions spent on this and that with no results. You have already seen my rant on $15 light bulbs I think. That list goes on and on.

Re: Partisanship versus reason
Not necessarily. I'm not criticizing the quote from the argument, as I think it has some validity, nor am I criticizing laz for disagreeing with that quote. I'm just tired of the constant barrage of attacks towards liberals or if you will, other people that don't see eye to eye with Laz. I think it's ridiculous that he can make attacks on an entire population and base it off his personal feelings. I asked for a source because I'm curious as to where he's getting his information from. I read a lot too, and I see things that contradict both sides, so there really isn't FACT as Laz proposes.

Just like there isn't FACT that it is legit yet we have a topic about a study that says if you refuse to believe it is indeed FACT then you have mental problems. Seems to me the only thing this "study" proves is that both sides are just as full of shit. But maybe I read it wrong.

Re: Partisanship versus reason
Hey the only thing I said was a fact was that global warming scientists have lied about the data in order to support a political agenda. And that is indeed a fact. Leaked emails and a couple of other stories proved that.
Man made global warming is a myth, when you test the hypothesis on the actual science instead of conjecture and consensus. I am for conservation and preservation of the environment, but my view is strictly limited to being a good neighbor to others and not based on some cataclysmic vision in which alternative energy companies make billions and our liberty is infringed upon. There is not a threat to the planet and its ecosystem from man made global warming. If anything this issue fully exposes how arrogant we are in thinking we are more important than we are in geological or cosmological terms and our ability to really affect the world around us.
By the way I drive a hybrid. Does that get me some cred? lol

Re: Partisanship versus reason
There is a difference between it being a myth and being over stated.
I would hope most people think at least that.
I would agree there is no threat to the planet. If anything we will be the ones under threat if it ever got to that point. The planet will keep spinning just fine without us.
No but it does make you gay.

Re: Partisanship versus reason
Global warming is happening. I don't care who or what caused it. Personally I think it's just a cyclic thing that happens. And when it starts it's a domino effect that speeds up over time. We just happen to be the unhappy recipients of that speeding up process. But that's just my opinion.
