The President ran on a platform that included health-care reform very much like the ACA. He won. The election obviously wasn't simply a referendum on health care, but it's hard to argue that any of the voters were duped.

The Congress passed the ACA. There was plenty of opportunity for debate. Everyone had lots of time to make their case. Shit, the debate has been going on since at least '92.

The Supreme Court affirmed it as law.

Some Republicans feel there is a political advantage to continuing this fight. I don't see that changing any time soon.

I think the political dividends may pay off in the next Presidential election year.

You don't want to go there.

Remember what happened that last election where you had it all figured out?

This is why Congress has such a great approval rating.

I think your missing the point. The dems dont have to cave. All they have to do is keep getting it pushed and the next guy will most likely shit can it.

But that isnt what the supreme court did. All they did is say as of right now there is nothing unconstitutional about it and any judgement being made would have to be after it goes into effect. All they did was give an answer of yes to both sides saying until a fine is issued nothing can be done. Which means if it ever actually goes into effect it will be in another lawsuit on april 16th.

Politicians think Political Dividends will line their pockets nicely, as well as light their cigars.

I don't like the ACA. But holding the budget/economy hostage in an effort to defund (which will ultimately fail) it is even worse so good job GOP.

I think this is the plan of the both parties anyway. They are not pro anything. They are just anti solution to everything unless the can get credit for it. Deadlock in DC seems to be pretty good for the people they really represent.
