AZ Legislature wants congressional maps blocked - CBS 5 - KPHO

The Republican-controlled Arizona Legislature wants a federal court to immediately block use of congressional district maps created by the Arizona Independent Redistricting Commission.

The Legislature led by Senate President Andy Biggs and House Speaker Andy Tobin sued in June 2012. Their lawyers asked for a preliminary injunction in a filing Friday.

Yes, because dear god we have a, at least on paper, half-decent approach to setting up districts. No, instead it should be at the whims of the legislature so there can be the usual shithole districting like everywhere else! hooray!.

Yeah, gerrymandering is, my opinion, one of the greater attacks on US democracy that's currently going on, behind the legal bribery, of course. The only goal of gerrymandering is to prevent the democratic process from working correctly.

Yes. And both sides are guilty of it, and I'm sick of it. The worst cases are places where the lines are drawn around racial groups in order to secure votes.
