I wonder what happens if you can afford the ins and can't pay the fine? Prison?

The heathcare law isn't open to negotiation. It was enacted into law by a lawful vote of Congress and backed by a Supreme Court decision and a re-election followed which showed the majority's support.

So what compromise are you referring to?
Yeah, I don't see what compromise the Republicans are expecting. We have process for making laws, and that process was followed to enact this law. Threatening to shut down the government isn't part of that process.

Unfortunately it appears it is because if nobody is working who collects the tax/fine/fee?

I'm not saying that it won't accomplish their goals, but that doesn't make it legitimate. The Republicans are entirely in the wrong here. They didn't get their way when the proper procedure was followed, so they're using underhanded tactics to try to get their way.

They are using the same playbook the Dems did a few years ago. Oh how quickly we forget the whole "defund" the War rigamarole. At least this time we don't have hundreds of thousands of troops in harm's way while the children argue.

That is super offensive Guyver....I can't believe you would compare our elected officials to monkeys....

I mean, monkeys are actually able to work together. Do you know how insulting that comparison is to monkeys?!?

Congress is charged with budget authority. They are constitutionally within their rights to choose to fund programs to a level less than the Presidents budget Request. This is admittedly an Extreme implementation of that authority. What is NOT constitutional is Obama admin decision to delay the employer mandate of the Affordable Care Act. The President is constitutionally required to ensure that laws be faithfully be executed. He cannot choose to not implement and/or enforce them.
