The part your complaining about has not changed. We paid for them then and will pay for them next year. Every type of health system has a downside. At least with the one we had we we're the leaders in innovation. Odds are we will be with the new one as well because we ddnt adopt a system like over there. Thats not to say they do not come up with new shit over there but what they do pails in comparison to what comes from the US.

The United States' economy is more than 5 times larger than any other western nation. Its workforce is as well. Socioeconomically, the United States is completely different than other nations as well. Our political system is not conducive to a socialist structure for government either. We have a shitload more states and local governments than any other country. States have a LOT more power in the United States than in any other country. Central fiscal planning had always played a much smaller role in the United States, primarily because of our system of government and the restrictions placed on the federal government. States' rights as it is implemented here is a concept unique to the United States.

There are myriad reasons why constantly comparing us to little European or other nations economically or otherwise and trying to see how we can be more like them is just dumb. We lead the world's economies for a reason; and it's more than simple dumb luck with regard to natural resources, etc. We are different in every sense of the word. The term American exceptionalism was coined for a reason. This is the greatest nation on God's green earth. We do some things differently, we can always improve and that's ok.

I could go on but I don't have time.

What good is innovation if your insurance won't cover it because it's too new or too expensive? Do you feel that people should be financially ruined because of a health care issue? A long time ago I was part of the working poor. I had two jobs and neither provided insurance. My son was born very early (26 weeks). He was very healthy for being so early and spent only 11 days in the NicU. The bill for that was well over $100K. Lots of kids are in there much longer. We were on Medicaid at the time so it was not a problem. Now I have a great job with great insurance. Under my current insurance, which is really, really good, if the same thing happened again, I would be pretty well screwed. How can we call that acceptable? There has to be a better way. I'm certainly not saying that the ACA is right, but I am saying the previous way was wrong.

Absolutely not. That was the main part of the reform that should have been there. With or without insurance you can be destroyed by medical bills for various reasons. All i've been saying is both ways are wrong.
