I'm white. I don't see how it matters. In the context asked, the people being racist would also be white. Regardless, when you live somewhere for more than a couple months you tend to start hearing things. In my experience racist fucks are less likely to hide the fact from people that are the same race.

Well, there´s a reason why you can´t see how it matters: you´re ignorant to what someone of another race/ethnicity/nationality experience on a daily basis. Sure you can have black friends, brown friends, red friends and yellow friends but that´s a world away from walking in their shoes.
We´re past the public lynching days, guys. Racism is much more subtle now, but you can still cut the tension with a butter knife in some places. And well, I speak from what I´ve seen living a few years in the southeast and conversely, what I´ve seen living a few years in the north.

Even if I personally didn't notice it, I worked with and am/was good friends with hispanics and blacks everywhere I've been. I went to SD, CO, MO, IL, and MI, AL as military. In 3 of the first 4 states I listed, there were entire cities and counties that we are briefed that black people shouldn't go there. In MO and IL, there was the same for white people. In MI and AL we had specific establishments we couldn't visit. When we bar hopped we weren't asking everyone(because believe it or not, other races are racist against whites) if they knew the next good part of town. We sure as fuck were doing that in MO, and IL. Racism was pretty bad and blatant where I lived in PA - probably due to all the mostly black and hispanic gang related shit going on. It's everywhere. It is by no means just worse in the south.

Re: An interesting case on Race and voting.
It is more subtle, but its also more diverse. I find that black people harbor racism against whites as much as whites do. I know that'll piss some people off, but every time I scan the internet it's everywhere you look. But it seems to be okay as long as its not a white guy doing it. Yes, you're right, there is still racism. But it's not just in the south. It's everywhere.
"Equality" doesn't mean we get to treat each other like shit equally. It means we bury our grandfathers and grandmothers and let their hatred die with them. But that also means that people like Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, and any other black leader whose goal is to vilify every white guy they see is also to blame. The moment the black community starts to tell those assholes to fuck off, is the moment we can start to heal.-Lazarus- liked this post
